No sleep in Ubuntu 16.04 for coffee lake 8th generation desktop
So recently I just purchased a desktop – which is a latest 8th generation coffee lake architecture based desktop.
I had an old ssd on which ubuntu 16.04 was installed. When i connected that SSD with the desktop almost everything worked fine except that the sleep functionality was not working.
After doing some research … I figured out that its an issue with the Drivers. A driver is a low level software which acts as an interface between a hardware device and the PC.
I also learned that in the Linux the drivers are stored in Kernel. So if i just update the kernel the drivers will also get updated. In ubuntu 16.04 there is an option to upgrade the kernel you just need to search for it.
After i upgraded the kernel the problem of “sleep not working” was solved.
